February 3rd is National Signing Day and this last week and half of the recruiting period are certainly going to be critical and will definitely change a lot of things. Georgia Tech currently has 13 signees, and after the dismal season they suffered through last season, Paul Johnson could use any help he can get to get the program back on track.
For the purpose of this post, Scout.com, ESPN, 24/7 Sports and Rivals, will be used to get a well-rounded interpretation of how things are going. This way there is no bias towards any particular source.
Scout has GT ranked 69th overall, 13th in the ACC (only Syracuse is ranked worse). All of the recruits are three stars, according to Scout, with only one that is ranked and that is Junior College transfer DE Desmond Branch from Trinity Valley Community College in Athens, TX.
ESPN does not have Tech ranked in their top 40, but the highest ESPN ranked recruit committed to Tech is four star G Parker Braun out of Hallsville, TX.
24/7 has Tech ranked 63rd overall, and like Scout, 13th in the ACC with only Syracuse behind them. Branch and Braun are the highest rated recruits committed to the Yellow Jackets, with the next highest rated committed recruit being OLB Emanuel Bridges (#571 overall) out of Newnan High School.
Rivals has Tech ranked the lowest of all the major recruiting sites at #76 overall and last in the ACC. Outside of Branch, Braun and Bridges, GT has six other 3 star recruits: DB Jarett Cole, WR Steven Dolphus, ATH Xavier Gantt, ATH Jay Jones, DT Chris Martin and RB Dedrick Mills.
Georgia Tech still has a lot of scholarships remaining so they still have a shot of improving their recruiting class and rankings.
Last year GT was 43rd on Scout, 41st on ESPN, 44th on 24/7 and 39th on Rivals.
